What are the ages for children's camp?

Children's camp is for grades 3rd through 6th. Anyone who falls into that age category is able to attend children's camp.

What is the daily schedule for children's camp?

A sample day schedule for children's camp can be found here.

What does my child need to bring to camp?

We have a specific list of things needed for children's camp and it can be found here.

If my child is going into 7th grade should they be in youth or children's camp?

We leave that decision up to the parents or the children and youth pastor. Whichever camp they are most comfortable with, that is the one they should attend.

What extra costs will my child have besides the cost of camp?

We try to limit extra costs as much as possible. The cost of camp covers almost everything, the only things that are extra are paintball which is $10 and Horsemanship which is $10. We have a camp store with souvenirs, snacks and other things, so the children may also bring extra money for those things. A complete breakdown of optional spending money can be found here. If children have any left over spending money it can be donated to our scholarship fund to help under priveleged students attend camp.

How do you help children take care of their extra spending money?

It is very easy for children to misplace their money or to have something happen to it, so we keep a camp store account for all of the children. Whatever money is sent with the children is taken at the beginning of the week and placed in an account. If they do not spend all of their money then we will refund the remainder at the end of the week,

What will the food be like?

The food at the Master's Inn is excellent. A large portion of the camp cost is spent on food. We pride ourselves in having the best camp food around. There will always be choices so if there is something the campers do not like they can have something else. We also make extra food, so after everyone has eaten campers can come back and get seconds so no one goes hungry.

How do I write or email my child at camp?

Any mail that you send or emails that you send will be given to the campers at mail call which is usually at lunch. If you want to send an email you can send it to themastersinn@earthlink.net, in the heading address it to your camper and we will print the letters out and give them to the campers at mail call.

If you want to hand write your camper you may send your letter to:

C/O your camper

The Master's Inn

445 Mitchell Springs Rd

Altavista, VA 24517

Can I call my child at camp?

If there is a family emergency you can absolutely call our camp to contact your camper. We will find them immediately and get them in contact with you. We discourage parents from calling just to chat with their campers. This generally creates a homesickness in the camper and we find that it is best if parents only call for emergencies. Obviously under no circumstances will we prohibit you from talking to your camper, we just encourage that you limit it to emergencies if at all possible.

How does the camp handle prescription medications?

We have specific medical forms for everything at camp. The medical forms can be found here. We have a specific medical form for prescriptions that gives our camp nurse all of the information that they will need to get the camper their medications on time. Our camp nurse and only our camp nurse handles all of our medications.

Can my child play paintball?

We only allow children who are in grades 5 and 6 to play paintball. Due to insurance reasons we cannot allow anyone under that age to play paintball.
